Joey was born in Dothan, Alabama and raised in Florida. Upon graduation from Ft. Walton Beach High School, he attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a B.S. in finance.

Upon graduation from the University of Alabama, Joey entered the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He was later selected to serve as a Director of the Cumberland Trial Advocacy Board and was in Who's Who of American Law Students. While in law school Joey attended the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, where he studied the European Common Market, and Comparative Law of the United States and Great Britain under the direction of former appellate judge and Solicitor General of the United States, Ken Starr.

After law school, Joey practiced as a defense attorney with the firm of Cobb and Shealy, P.C. practicing in the areas of civil litigation, with a concentration in the areas of wrongful death, products liability and personal injury. In 1999 he left the defense side of litigation and started his current firm representing those who had been injured or damaged through the negligent conduct of others.

Joey's bar memberships include the Alabama Bar and the Florida Bar and he is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court of Alabama for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts, in addition to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Joey is active in legal and other organizations, including Houston County Bar Association; the Florida Bar Association; former Chairman of the Board for the Lawyer Referral Service for the State of Alabama, the American Bar Association; American Association for Justice; Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class; Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors; Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club, Adjunct Professor Troy State University System 1996-2000; and member First United Methodist Church of Dothan. Joey also serves on the Board of Bar Commissioners for the Alabama State Bar and was also appointed to serve on the Disciplinary Panel for the State Bar.

Among his hobbies are reading, golf, fishing, traveling and spending time with family. Joey is married to the former Louise Jensen of Birmingham and they are the proud parents of four children, Andrew, Patrick, William and Anna Louise.

Morris, Cary, Andrews, Talmadge & Driggers, L.L.C. limits its practice primarily to cases involving wrongful death, personal injury, workers' compensation, and cases involving defective products or fraudulent conduct.
